Two Birds

This is for the Congressional Art Competition. I decided I wanted to do something semi-realistic, so I went with birds because I had earlier done an acrylic painting of blue-jays and been very happy with it. I used watercolors in the background, then acrylic for the foreground and mid-ground. I'm not super happy with the contrast, but ultimately it makes it look softer, so I'm at least happy with the effect. The piece was based around the frame that I found beforehand, so I made sure the image matched well with the brown but didn't overpower the color or texture.
