I started this piece as a study with markers. I also wanted to work with angles of the face, since I can sometimes struggle with the side views of faces. I used a reference photo of my mom and I, and I think the closeness that we had in that photo translated well into this piece. I used darker colors on the right girl to signify where the light is coming from and also that she is behind the girl on the left. The background remained blank for a couple months but eventually I decided to add green and purple, which compliment each other as they are opposite of each other on the color wheel. I also thought the purple and green triangles gave a vintage sort of bowling alley vibe that I really liked to add as a sort of backstory to the girls.
