This piece is for the Gasparilla contest. My plan is to paint flowers and butterflies surrounding her. I spent the most work o her because she is the only part that will really have fine details. I used acrylic paint and, since it dries so quickly, it was difficult to soften some colors. However, I found that mixing a little more water into the top layers would help it spread and blend better into the solid bottom layers. However, I did have to come to the point of using colored pencils over top the acrylic paint for highlights and shadows. I used markers for the individual strands of hair as well. The flowers and butterflies should be quick work, since I'm doing mostly one-stroke type flowers that only require a little bit of work to look impressive. The flowers and butterflies will even go onto the frame I will be using. Youtuber Donna Dewberry is my artist for this piece because of her videos on flowers with acrylic paint that I have watched to better understand techniques for the flowers I will be adding and have already added.
