Water Study

This piece was a study on both movement and water. The picture, which shows a ice cube being dropped into a glass that throws water up into the air, was a great example of both of these. I've never been the greatest at distortion, because I like clean-cut lines and outlines in most of my pieces at least to start out with. In this piece, however, that skill would not help me. I started with coloring the darkest parts of the picture and then built off of that, moving from darkest to lightest. Although I'm not used to doing this kind of coloring for my pieces, I really enjoyed it. I knew that if I messed up in some part, it would still look like what I was shooting for, whereas if I made a mistake in a line work piece it is more difficult to blend in and I usually have to restart that part after erasing it. I've never tried to draw water so detailed before,so this was a good learning curve to be able to see the movement of water with its compartment and the changes it makes while it is moving.
