Hand Study

This piece is a study of hands. I actually really enjoy drawing hands, but only close ups, when I can put a lot of detail into them. When they're minor details, I tend not to give them as much attention as, say, the face. I enjoy just taking a quick picture of my own hand and using them as reference. I used just pencil with some white colored pencil on on toned paper here. I began with the small hand on the lower left hand corner before deciding to make the other three sort of highlighting that top center part of the paper, but I still like how it fits with the others. I began with the lightest of pencils to sketch out the hand, then added values as I kept going up a grade with the pencil. I think this added a lot of depth to the overall end piece. I really enjoyed doing this piece and I love the end product, so I think I will continue dong this every so often to further my realism and drawing what I see and not what I think I see.
